A project that combines classic luminaires, architectural projection, and sustainable path lighting to preserve the nightscape and strengthen the municipality’s identity
AÍSA —10/10/2025— The town of Aísa, head of the valley that bears its name, has completed the comprehensive renovation of its outdoor lighting with ATP Lighting’s LED technology. The project, promoted by the Aísa Town Council, forms part of a broader modernization strategy across the Aragonese Pyrenees, following previous interventions in Candanchú, Sinués, and Esposa.
The purpose of this intervention was twofold: to improve the energy efficiency and visual comfort of public spaces while protecting the natural and cultural heritage that defines one of the most distinctive villages of La Jacetania.
Living tradition in a high-mountain environment
Located more than 1,000 meters above sea level and surrounded by the peaks of the Aspe Trilogy, Aísa preserves a Pyrenean architecture perfectly integrated into its surroundings. Stone houses, slate roofs, and narrow streets form a cohesive urban ensemble that maintains the essence of the most authentic Pyrenees.
In such a setting, lighting must play a discreet but essential role—providing safety and visibility without disrupting the visual balance or the night atmosphere. This principle guided the entire project, conceived with sensitivity toward both local heritage and the surrounding nature.
A comprehensive and versatile lighting system
The new installation combines various ATP solutions adapted to the needs of each area of the village. Villa XLA 2200 K luminaires with Comfort Diffuser® illuminate the main streets and squares, providing warm, uniform light that enhances the natural tones of stone and wood. Their classic design reinforces the visual coherence of the village, preserving its harmony by day and night.
The Parish Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, one of Aísa’s most emblematic landmarks, has been highlighted using Aire® 3 Series and 5 Series LED 2200 K floodlights, which softly wash the façade with controlled light, avoiding glare and preserving the nocturnal ambiance.
Meanwhile, pedestrian paths have been equipped with Focus bollard lights, designed to direct light precisely onto the ground, marking routes without invading the visual landscape. The children’s playground area has also been illuminated with Villa XLA luminaires, ensuring safety, comfort, and aesthetic consistency throughout.
Efficiency, durability, and environmental respect
The installation follows strict technical and environmental sustainability criteria. The ultra-warm 2200 K color temperature and blue light emission below 1.63% under 440 nm minimize impact on nocturnal fauna and circadian rhythms, in full compliance with Starlight standards for night-sky protection.
Each luminaire is made from ATP’s exclusive polymeric materials, completely immune to corrosion, UV radiation, and the effects of ice and humidity. Their IP66+ hermetic sealing and IK10+ impact resistance ensure reliable operation even under extreme mountain conditions. In addition, their structural immunity to overvoltages and comprehensive 10-year warranty ensure long-lasting, maintenance-free performance.
The result is a lighting system designed to endure for decades without degradation, drastically reducing the total cost of ownership.
A municipality leading by example
The renovation in Aísa not only modernizes its public lighting but also consolidates the model promoted by the Town Council throughout the valley: energy efficiency, durability, and respect for both natural and cultural environments.
This project illustrates how small mountain municipalities can become benchmarks in sustainability through responsible technical decisions and environmentally conscious design. As in Candanchú, Sinués, and Esposa, the lighting integrates seamlessly with its surroundings, proving that technology and tradition can not only coexist but enhance each other.
Lighting the Aragonese Pyrenees with a vision for the future
Aísa represents a new milestone in ATP Lighting’s comprehensive strategy for the Aragonese Pyrenees, where multiple rural communities are adopting sustainable, maintenance-free 2200 K LED solutions.
From high-altitude tourist areas like Candanchú to rural enclaves such as Esposa and Sinués, all projects share the same philosophy: to preserve the starry sky, protect biodiversity, and ensure long-lasting, efficient, and visually coherent lighting in harmony with the environment.
