Tapia de Casariego (Asturias): A lighting transformation that meets the demands of its environment

ARRE—23/10/2026— The municipality, located on the shores of the Cantabrian Sea, has modernised its outdoor lighting with luminaires from ATP Iluminación, whose optics allow light distributions to be adjusted and appropriate uniformity levels to be achieved.

LED solutions tailored to the needs of the environment

Tapia de Casariego has an urban centre developed around its harbour and coastline. In this setting, where fishing activities, tourism and the daily lives of its residents coexist, it is important to have efficient public lighting that meets the specific needs of the area.

ATP Iluminación's intervention has contributed to the modernisation of urban lighting through LED solutions that improve lighting quality, optimise energy consumption and offer greater durability in the face of environmental conditions, adapting to the municipality's specific needs and characteristics.

A significant reduction in energy consumption

The renovation of the lighting points has resulted in a significant reduction in energy consumption, replacing the previous 100 W luminaires with 38 W LED solutions in most locations and 52 W solutions on access roads to the urban centre. This intervention has reduced the costs associated with public lighting and improved visibility, replacing lighting with a low colour temperature with cooler lighting that enhances the perception of the surrounding environment in both urban and rural areas.

Villa XLA and Difusor Confort®: a significant advantage in pedestrian areas

The incorporation of Difusor Confort® into the Siglo XLAC luminaire makes it possible to achieve high levels of visual comfort and vertical illuminance, as well as a clearer perception of the surrounding space. These features are particularly relevant in pedestrian areas, where high-quality lighting is achieved with low wattages. Furthermore, the selection of optics suited to each location has made it possible to optimise light distribution and ensure good uniformity, despite the project involving a point-by-point replacement.

Lighting quality and IK10+

Another luminaire selected for the new installation in the Asturian municipality is the Metrópoli LLC. It stands out for ATP Iluminación's polymeric materials, developed to withstand vandalism in public lighting installations. This design makes it an ideal choice for an environment such as this.
