ATP Lighting has developed an outdoor lighting project that combines energy efficiency, uniform illumination, and respect for the historic surroundings
QUINTANAR DE LA SIERRA— 17/07/2026— Located in the La Demanda and Pinares region of Burgos province, Quintanar de la Sierra is renowned for its rich historical heritage, its close connection to the surrounding natural landscape, and the quality of its public spaces. Surrounded by extensive pine forests and home to a remarkable architectural legacy, the municipality has upgraded its public lighting system to enhance the nighttime experience for residents and visitors while preserving the town's distinctive character.
Lighting Designed for the Historic Urban Environment
The project was designed to deliver more efficient, environmentally responsible lighting while minimizing glare and intrusive light through the correct positioning of the luminaires and the incorporation of ATP Lighting's BR-8 adapter. This solution directs light exclusively to the areas that require illumination, preventing unnecessary light spill onto building façades and improving visual comfort.
One of the project's main objectives was to achieve a uniform distribution of light across the Town Hall Square, enhancing the perception of safety and encouraging the use of this important public gathering space without creating excessive contrast or areas of shadow.
The Church: A Focal Point of the Nighttime Landscape
Particular attention was also given to the church, one of Quintanar de la Sierra's most significant heritage landmarks. Warm-toned lighting was selected to highlight the texture and character of its stone masonry.
The result enhances the building's historic architecture while preserving its identity, integrating lighting as a means of celebrating and safeguarding the town's architectural heritage.
Efficient LED Solutions Tailored to Every Space
The project combines several ATP Lighting luminaires to meet the specific requirements of each area within the municipality. In locations requiring highly precise and energy-efficient illumination, Enur Micro luminaires were installed. Their advanced optical performance enables highly accurate light distribution, maximizing energy efficiency while improving lighting uniformity.
One of the project's most notable features is the integration of the BR-8 adapter into the Enur Micro and Enur L luminaires. This accessory controls intrusive light on building façades, reduces glare, and contributes to a more comfortable, higher-quality lighting environment that respects the surrounding urban landscape.
In the municipality's most representative locations, including the Town Hall and the Church of San Cristóbal, Siglo XLAC luminaires were installed. This solution preserves the area's traditional aesthetic while incorporating the benefits of LED technology, allowing the lighting system to be modernized without compromising the historic character of the urban environment.
The renovation is completed with the installation of Aire S3 floodlights to illuminate the church façades and Metrópoli LP luminaires along Frontón Street and in residential areas, providing functional, uniform lighting tailored to the specific characteristics of each location.
Lighting Quality, Sustainability, and Durability
The entire installation uses a colour temperature of 3000 K, producing a warm white light that creates welcoming public spaces and is particularly well suited to urban and pedestrian environments. This colour temperature also supports current objectives for reducing light pollution and protecting the natural environment.
As with all ATP Lighting solutions, the installed luminaires offer outstanding resistance to corrosion, anti-electrocution design, and vandal-resistant properties, ensuring a long service life while minimizing maintenance requirements.
With this project, Quintanar de la Sierra has enhanced the quality of its public lighting through a solution that combines energy efficiency, visual comfort, and heritage enhancement, establishing a sustainable lighting model that meets the municipality's current and future needs.
