A strategic ecodesign decision that simplifies recycling and reduces chemical and energy use
ARRE —5/6/2025— Coinciding with World Environment Day, ATP Lighting introduces its new sustainable packaging: a box made from untinted natural cardboard and printed with a single white ink. This strategic move responds to a clear objective: to minimize the environmental footprint of every product manufactured and shipped.
Compared to the previous model—made of white cardboard with multicolor inks (including corporate branding and colored details)—the new box marks a step forward in ecodesign and material efficiency. The new approach reduces resource usage and simplifies the recycling process.
Less ink, lower impact
The use of ink in packaging has a significant environmental cost. Most conventional inks contain solvents, heavy metals, or petroleum-derived synthetic pigments. These components hinder the recycling of cardboard and, during production, generate industrial waste and pollutant emissions.
In addition, tinting the base cardboard requires chemical treatments and additional energy consumption. Reducing or eliminating these steps not only lessens direct environmental impact but also lightens the load across the entire supply chain.
A box that communicates sustainability
This new box is more than just packaging—it’s a statement of purpose. Its minimalist design reinforces ATP’s commitment to efficiency, circular economy, and environmental responsibility—values already embedded in its product philosophy:
- 100% recyclable products.
- Manufacturing with no planned obsolescence (ISSOP-certified).
- ISO 14001-certified environmental management.
A step aligned with the brand’s DNA
The new packaging is part of a broader sustainability strategy. At ATP, innovation applies not only to luminaires, but also to processes, materials, and final product presentation.
Efficiency results achieved in 2024 reinforce this direction:
- 30% reduction in electricity consumption compared to 2017–2023
- 60% reduction in gas consumption over the same period
- 14% reduction in waste generation
With this new box, the company further strengthens its position as an international benchmark in responsible outdoor lighting.
